Rolls-Royce unveils Cullinan Cosmos: a one-of-a-kind custom car designed to capture the magnificence of outer space. This car was commissioned by a family who shared their four-year-old son's curiosity about the universe.
This theme is brought to life through a series of bespoke details.
The centerpiece is a Rolls-Royce first: a meticulously hand-painted starlight headliner, meticulously created by an in-house artist over a period of 160 hours.
Exterior Color: The Ultimate Exterior
Cullinan Cosmos features a shimmering Arabian Pearl White paint job, evoking the soft glow of moonlight in the midnight sky. The exterior also features a hand-painted two-tone coachline in Charles Blue and a Spirit of Ecstasy lighting installation that shimmers like distant stars at night.
Interior: Exploring Inner Spaces
The interior of Cullinan Cosmos creates a tranquil, meditative ambiance inspired by the stillness and wonder of deep space. The seats are clad in Charles Blue and Gray White leather, with contrasting Gray White stitching and piping. Piano White wood veneer adds a fresh, technical touch, complementing the high-gloss finish of the satellite housing. The commissioning client collaborated with Rolls-Royce designers to create a unique star cluster motif, which appears as bespoke embroidery on the door panels and headrests, and as a hand-painted artwork on the front passenger instrument panel.
A Hand-Painted Starry Sky Headliner: The Cullinan Universe Edition features the first fully hand-painted starry sky headliner in Rolls-Royce history. Painted entirely by hand by an in-house artist over 160 hours, it depicts a dreamy vision of the Milky Way – a hazy band of stars and cosmic mists across the night sky – in colors meticulously blended to complement the bespoke interior's palette.
To create the luminous effect of the clouds, the artist applied over 20 layers of acrylic paint, using a variety of brush strokes to build depth and dimension. To achieve the misty effect, the artist unexpectedly used a makeup brush, allowing the lightest layer of paint to dry gently on contact.
This shimmering "starry" painting is created using a combination of fine-pointed brushstrokes and pointillism, resulting in an organic, dreamlike, celestial effect. Only after the painting of the "Starlight Headliner" is completed and sealed are the fiber optic perforations individually hand-punched and positioned to match the contours of the painting.
