Rolls-Royce roof design: The Starlight Headliner is just the beginning.

As a top global automotive brand, Rolls-Royce has always emphasized ultimate luxury and comfort, and the roof decoration and design have always been one of the most important aspects of Rolls-Royce.

In 2007, Rolls-Royce first equipped the seventh-generation Phantom with the Starlight Headliner. It is said that the design was inspired by a Rolls-Royce customer who, upon taking delivery of his car, saw technicians using fiber optic lighting to inspect the paintwork in the Rolls-Royce Goodwood assembly plant. The starlight filtering through the fibers reminded him of the night sky. He then asked Rolls-Royce, "Could you make my roof like that?" Rolls-Royce's bespoke department accepted the challenge and made it a reality.

Initially, the Starlight Headliner appeared as a highly complex bespoke option, and due to its unparalleled romanticism and artistry, it quickly became one of the brand's most popular and recognizable features. Initially, star patterns were fixed (like constellations), mostly in white or amber. Later, adjustable brightness and color options were added, and a "shooting star" effect was introduced—a random "star" would streak across the roof like a shooting star. Now, customers can design star charts entirely according to their own preferences and needs, such as adding the names of their loved ones and children, and some even design the moon, nebulae, the Milky Way, or even black holes on their car roofs.
